If pattern matching is your main requirement for picking a language, yes by all means pass on typescript and go for something like ReasonML.

But in the real word there are quit often totally different requirements on which languages get selected and typescript gets chosen a lot. Now we can all twiddle our thumbs until the typescript team adds pattern matching (which I don’t expect to happen) or we can get out engineering boots on and use the tools we have to make things better. I’m personally not getting the ‘you shouldn’t force …’, this library consists completely out of documented language features without any hacks.

And as last: this thing is mainly an experiment and exists more because it can then because it should.
